Howdy!
I am so excited to begin the 2018 school year! As an Associate Coordinator in New Student & Family Programs at Texas A&M, I have the distinct pleasure of overseeing our parent and family initiatives. In the six years I have served in this role, I have seen our program grow tremendously. We have an increased presence on social media, an enhanced communication strategy, a Parent & Family Advisory Council, and new Family Weekend events, just to name a few. All of these are great resources to you throughout your student’s time at Texas A&M. New Student & Family Programs believes this is a collaborative relationship. You, your student, and the university can work together to ensure your student’s success. While we offer many great resources to you, one of the best resources you can utilize is the Aggie Family.
I did not attend Texas A&M University; in fact, I am not even from the state of Texas. However, after a summer internship at this amazing university, I felt completely comfortable leaving everything I knew behind and making the 1,000-mile trek to College Station. The Aggie community is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Between the rich traditions and history, the friendly, family-like atmosphere, and the true embodiment of our Core Values, Aggieland is truly unique. Everyone in the Aggie Community is committed to making Aggieland a welcoming place. The students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M readily go above and beyond every single day. Whether in the classroom, through research, or in organizations, Texas A&M truly provides opportunities to develop individuals who are committed to serving their institution, community, and greater world. These are the types of leaders created and nurtured at Texas A&M. The students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M understand what a special opportunity we have to call ourselves Aggies, and it is an opportunity that is not taken lightly.
Whether you are a former student or an Aggie by association, you, too, are a part of this family, and we are here to help and support you. In addition to the publications, social media, and events that we offer to our Aggie Families, we hope you will look to our staff as a resource. You can reach us via email at Aggiefamilies@tamu.edu or by phone at (979) 845-5826. Our staff is excited to help you and your student.
